Frequently asked questions

Q. What is the bare minimum to play S&S?

A. The starter box includes everything you need for single player modes, as well as two player games, where tokens used for the second player can also used for single player modes. The starter box also has two rulebooks, with  the complete rules, all game modes, and 3 factions to choose from.  It contains plastic resource camp buildings, resource sites (like the forests and outcrops) and the stockpile counter. All other components (besides dice rulers etc.) are cardboard push-out tokens.

Q. Can i still play competitively and in full with only using tokens?

A. Yes of course! The push-our tokens are non-faction specific, so can be used for any faction we bring out in the future!

Q. What are the miniatures made out of?

A. Some of our models are cast PCV plastic, whereas others that are printed in-house are resin, printed to a 50micron layer height.

Q. Ive got the starter pack, but want to upgrade to miniatures, what should i do?

A. If you can afford it, buying the Kingdom set is the best value for money, however purchasing smaller packs – for example the “Barracks” pack which includes 12 of each unit, plus the barracks building its self, will allow you to slowly build up your collection, for less of an overhead.

Q. Is S&S miniatures agnostic?  What is the scale of S&S minis?

A. Alas, no. Part of being able to play out large battles over a vast land requires smaller miniatures. All units in S&S are on a 20x20mm base. A “unit” be t a Villager a Catapult, a Knight or King, represents a group of around 50 individuals, their supply wagons, support woekers, squiares and the rest of their entourage. For monsters, giants etc, a unit only consists of 1 or only several individuals. With all units being on this 20x20mm base means that models are of different scales, so a horse rider, is a smaller scale than a swords unit, to allow for the model to fit onto the 20x20mm base. Naval units differ from this base size, and are on a 30x30mm base. S&S units are always in an “idol” pose, and (althought beautifully scuplted) are less detailed than their 28mm cousins, that have highly intricate action poses. We are not trying to compete with these scale models.

Q. How do i know if S&S is for me?

A. Well, firstly you have to like the medieval fantasy theme, and tabletop board games.  Additionally, S&S multiplayer games require a large table, friends, and at least 4 hours free for a game. Having all 3 can be a challenge!

Q. Will the product be available to purchase after the crowdfunding campaign has ended?

A. We will have a pledge manager open after the crowdfunding closes, however if you miss that then you will have to wait until after all pre-orders have been sent, then we will add them to the site store.
